1. Diesel Exhaust Removal—Fire Station Retrofit Project

Application: Operation of fire trucks and ambulances inside fire station generated large volumes of diesel smoke. The original ventilation system, consisting of blower, duct work and floor mounted rubber compression fit tail pipe nozzles with cable release mechanism operation, proved to be a cumbersome system to use and fire fighters were only partially protected. The new easy-to-use Plymovent system provided virtually 100% tail pipe seal, reliable automatic tail pipe nozzle release and increased air flow.

Filtration Equipment: Three Plymovent Model SBT-20 Sliding Balancer Track Systems with virtually 100% Tail Pipe Seal Grabber Nozzles, 5 hp Non-sparking Blower; Control Panel; Compressor; Spiral Piping Duct Work

2. Diesel Smoke Removal—AARF Station

Application: Diesel smoke from airport fire station diesel engine exhaust. Vertical stack fire/rescue vehicles generate large volumes of diesel smoke when leaving station. Plymovent VSR and STR rail systems contained smoke and protected fire fighters from airborne smoke and fumes.

Filtration Equipment: Seven Plymovent Model VSR-40 Vertical Stack Rail Systems, including Pressure Sensing Starting Controls; Main Blower for Four VSR Units; Bayley Model EX261GP, 10 hp with Vertical Discharge Combination Backdraft Damper Discharge. Station also used Plymovent Model STR 60 Straight Rail System for drive-through bays.

3. Diesel Smoke Removal—Ambient System

Application: Fire Department installed ambient air filtration system for new Fire House. Ambient system provided operational flexibility by capturing ambient diesel smoke.

4. Diesel Smoke Removal—Emergency Vehicle Exhaust

Application: Ventilation of Fire Station. Special requirements included the use of two curved tracks to facilitate the exit of two vehicles through one doorway.

6. Diesel Smoke Removal—Fire Station

Application: Ventilation of NEW Fire Station diesel engine exhaust. Plymovent's virtually 100% tail pipe seal "grabber" nozzle isolates fire fighters from smoke buildup when engines are started indoors. System also reduces smoke buildup and deposits on internal station fixtures.

7. Drive-Through Fire Station

Application: New drive-through fire station designed with need to utilize different vehicles in same bay and to allow for up to 60’ travel of vehicle exhaust system. Plymovent source capture grabber nozzle attaches direct to engine tailpipe and releases at garage door as engine exits station. The STR (straight rail design) allows for extended vehicle travel while connected to the system thereby isolating operators from ambient diesel smoke exhaust.

8. EMS Ambulance Facility

Application: EMS Ambulance facility required source capture engine exhaust system to fit into low ceiling garage area located under parking garage. Two systems with 10 and 11 hose drops respectively and wall mounted retractable hose drops suspend hose when not connected to ambulance tailpipe. Direct tail pipe connection to engine exhaust isolates operator breathing zones and keeps fumes/smoke from migrating throughout facility.

Filtration Equipment: Twenty-One Plymovent Retractable Hose Drops including Heavy Duty Balancers and Nozzles; Two Plymovent TEV-745-60 10 hp Industrial Blowers

9. Fire Station Ventilation System Upgrade Project

Application: Fire station ventilation system upgrade project utilized Plymovent SBT units with grabber nozzle tail pipe connections to isolate and capture virtually 100% of engine exhaust. The grabber nozzle follows the vehicle as it exits the station and releases at the door. The system keep harmful fumes from entering living quarters, contaminating the main firehouse and protects firefighter and visitor breathing zones while in the facility. This department also installed Plymovent systems in two additional stations.

10. Military Base Airport Fire Station

Application: Military Base Airport Fire Station required source capture vehicle exhaust removal from specialized crash/rescue vehicles. Plymovent SBT system attaches nozzle direct to tailpipe and release at firehouse door as engine exists station. This design isolates operator breathing zones and keeps contaminants from migrating throughout fire house.
